Dr Mark Attard Montalto
Mark Attard Montalto is a founding partner of Attard Montalto & Aquilina Advocates.
Mark started his legal career as a legal procurator, before becoming an advocate. He obtained his Doctor of Laws degree in 2001 with a thesis titled "The Liability of the Auditor vis-à-vis Shareholders and Third Parties", and was called to bar in 2002.
He started practising as an advocate in 2002 as a self-employed lawyer. From 2004 to 2011, he worked at Fenech & Fenech Advocates in civil litigation. During this time, he read for a Masters in European Law, and submitted his thesis titled "The Market of Electricty – EC Competition Policy and its implications for Malta’s electricity sector".
In 2011, Mark moved back into private practice operating from Saga Juris Advocates. In 2018 he partnered with Dr Douglas Aquilina, and together they founded the firm Attard Montalto & Aquilina Advocates in 2020.
Mark assists clients in matters ranging from property law and rent laws, European law, constitutional and human rights law, succession (inheritance) law, tort law, commercial and civil agreements, family law, and criminal law, amongst others.
Over his years of practice, Mark has also been involved in the drafting of legislation, has lectured at the University of Malta and has held significant positions such as Chairperson of the Mediation Centre. Mark is a Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
Mark is married to Giulia Gera de Petri Testaferrata, with whom he has two children.
